Let’s be real—being a military spouse isn’t all homecomings, inspirational quotes, and Pinterest-worthy deployment countdowns.

Sometimes it’s crying in the car outside the commissary because your Tricare referral disappeared again. Sometimes it’s starting over in a new state (or country) with zero friends and a GPS that doesn’t know what base housing is. And sometimes… it’s just a Tuesday and everything is falling apart for no reason at all.

That’s why The Spouse Side was born.

As a military spouse of 14 years, I’ve been through 5 deployments, 4 PCS moves (one overseas), and raised 2 kids while trying to keep myself and my sanity somewhat intact. And what I’ve learned? The real stuff—the messy, hard, unfiltered, and even hilarious moments—rarely make it into traditional magazines or glossy support group posts.

Everyone loves the feel-good stories. We do too. But we also know there are days when:

  • You can’t remember your zip code because you’ve had too many.
  • Your partner’s gone and your toddler gets stuck in the dog door.
  • You ugly cry over the last box of your favorite cereal being out of stock at the exchange.

This life is a lot—and every spouse, whether they’re just starting out, a seasoned pro, divorced, retired, or somewhere in between, has their own story. We’re not just sidekicks to service members. We are navigating careers, identity shifts, mental health struggles, parenting on our own (a lot), and building community from scratch every time the military says “go.”

The Spouse Side was created to be the voice for all of that. The real talk. The good, the bad, the “you cannot make this up” stories.

We’re here to say:

  • You are not alone.
  • We see you—even when you haven’t washed your hair in 3 days and your house looks like a PCS exploded.
  • And yes, someone else has absolutely cried over a melted commissary ice cream cake. It happens.

Our mission is to support, connect, and share the real stories from the spouse trenches—with honesty, heart, and a little sass.

If you’re a military spouse with a story to tell (even if it’s just a vent or a weird PCS tale involving wild turkeys or base ghosts—we’ve heard it all), we want you to be part of this.

Let’s laugh, cry, and maybe scream into a deployment pillow together. We’re in this with you.
